Worry and how Christians can live above it (part 2)

The word "Worry" is a common phenomenon as far as human beings are concerned but worry should not be a part of genuine believer's life.

One may ask the Preacher why a Christian should not worry despite the fact that things are upside down and getting worse every day?

The reasons are not far fetched, here are some:
  • In 1 Peter 5:7, we are instructed to cast all our anxieties on God because He cares for us. God doesn't want us to carry around the weight of problems and burdens. Here, He is telling us to give Him all of our worries and concerns.
  • No worry is too big or too small for His attention and treatment. With God, all things remain possible. (Luke 1:37).

  • Further more, the things that are practically impossible with men are simply possible with God. (Luke 18:27) Those who do not have Christ are bound to worry and unnecessary anxious.  In fact, worry will be part of their lives but a genuinely saved believer have peace as their inheritance (Matthew 11:28-30).

  • God promised us peace which transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7) We need to know further that God is more than our necessities of life (Matthew 6:30).

  • God takes care of lesser creatures (animals + plants) perfectly. He meets their needs every micro second.

  • How much more human beings not to talk of we believers who are the apples of His eyes.
He calls us;
  1. A chosen generation
  2. A royal priesthood
  3. A holy nation
  4. A Peculiar people
  5. His people
  6. His temples
  7. Kings etc ( Read 1 Peter 2:9).

  • In the book of  Zechariah 8:7, He promised to be our God in truth and in righteousness.

  • Worry is a symptom of faithlessness. We must not allow it to journey with us. We shall continue next week by His grace. Even if the church has commenced open service by then, I still hope to drive the topic to the desired terminating point.
May we be delivered from the spirit of worry and anxiety in Jesus name, amen.
God bless you all.
